“Final Sin” is the pummeling new single from Denver, Colorado-based metalcore quintet UNDER AUBURN SKIES. The latest harbinger of the band’s impending Diminisher Of Hope EP, the song rips into the public sphere through a new video, premiering today at New Noise Magazine.
UNDER AUBURN SKIES is poised for a breakout with their Diminisher Of Hope EP. Showcasing a bleaker sound and more dejected lyrics, their newest material reveals a darker side of the band, while simultaneously raising the bar on their individual performances across the record’s six incinerating tracks. Diminisher Of Hope’s drums were recorded by Nick Nodurft at Rusty Sun Studios, the guitars and bass by Emilio Lujan, and the vocals and additional guitars by Jaxon Stunden at The Blasting Room. The EP was mixed and mastered by Chris Wiseman at Chris Wiseman Recordings and completed with artwork by Róbert Horváth at Holo Dreamz Designs.
The video for “Final Sin” was directed by Jacob Eldridge/Dad Life Visual Media. UNDER AUBURN SKIES guitarist Oscar Morales reveals, “Doing the ‘Final Sin’ music video was so much fun. I was very excited when we were able to use fog and light in the whole area that we recorded it, and more specifically that we made use of the confession booth. I think the fact that we had B-roll makes this video really stand out and tells somewhat of a story through allegory; It’s ambiguous, but it tells you enough. Like any story worth remembering, it gives you enough to piece together conclusions without throwing the answer in your face. Although our previous music video came out dope, I’m deeply proud and excited for this one.”
Vocalist Sebastian Gorklo delves into the song’s deep meaning: “Simply put, this song is about my mother. More specifically, it’s about the trauma that I inherited from her and what she did to me, and how it made me feel. It’s not so much a critique of her as a person, but my feelings of everything that happened between us. These are things in the vein of verbal abuse, neglect, and abandonment.”
