CANNIBAL CORPSE and BEHEMOTH confirm co-headline winter tour 2015!

Two of the most prominent bands in the history of death metal are teaming up to take North America in 2015! Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth will join forces beginning on January 28th in New Orleans, LA at the House of Blues. Both bands are touring in support of their most recent and massively successful albums. Cannibal Corpse released their thirteenth album, “A Skeletal Domain,” on September 16th and debuted at #32 on the Billboard Top 200. Combining both bands’ headlining sets into one touring package promises to make this the must see metal tour of 2015. To open the show, two of Sweden’s finest metal acts have been enlisted: Aeon and Tribulation. Premium packages for the tour will be available at ticketspin.com/behemoth-cannibalcorpse. Cannibal Corpse addresses Russian tour issues

Cannibal Corpse recently completed their tour of Russia, a place they have played previously played many times with no issues. Unfortunately, as many Russian fans are already aware, this tour did not go as planned. Cannibal Corpse has released a statement, which can be read below.

“A message to our Russian fans:

“As you all are certainly aware by now, our concerts in Ufa, Moscow, and St. Petersburg were cancelled.

We were present in these cities and ready to perform each of these shows but were not permitted to.

In Ufa the power was turned off shortly before the show (we were told because the venue was late on rent), and in Moscow and St. Petersburg we were told that we did not have the correct visas and that if we attempted to perform the concert would be stopped by police and we would be detained and deported (prior to the tour we had been told that we did have the correct visas and that all of our paperwork was in order).

“Our show in Nizhny Novgorod also had problems. In that city we performed half of our set before being stopped by police. We were told the police needed to search the venue for drugs and that the show had to be terminated.

“These are the reasons for the cancellations as far as we have been told.

“On the brighter side, we had a fantastic time performing in Krasnodar, Samara, Chelyabinsk, and Yekaterinburg. We were able to play our full set in all four of those cities.

“We came to Russia excited and prepared to play all of the scheduled concerts, and we apologize that we were not able to do so. It was beyond our control. We are extremely disappointed. We have played in

Russia many times and we love our Russian fans. Hopefully someday the situation for us in Russia will be different and we will be able to return.”

Kill Or Become Video Released

“Kill Or Become”, the new video from Florida-based death metal veterans CANNIBAL CORPSE, can be seen below. The clip was directed by David Brodsky for MyGoodEye and was filmed on location at Kelly’s Hideaway in Seffner, Florida.

“Kill Or Become” is taken from CANNIBAL CORPSE‘s new album, “A Skeletal Domain”, which sold 8,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous CD, “Torture”, opened with 9,600 units to land at No. 38. This figure was in line with the first-week performance of 2009’s “Evisceration Plague”, which entered the chart at No. 66. CANNIBAL CORPSE‘s 2006 CD, “Kill”, debuted at No. 170 after shifting more than 6,000 copies.

The CANNIBAL CORPSE collective — vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, bassist Alex Webster, guitarists Pat O’Brien and Rob Barrett and drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz — approaches each recording session with a honed and precise vision of a band in their third decade of existence. With this new entry to their extensive catalog, they’ve switched gears, opting to work with producer Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DEVILDRIVER) at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida, after having tracked their previous three outings (“Kill”, “Evisceration Plague”, “Torture”) with Erik Rutan. Boasting twelve-ominous tracks in forty-four spine-fraying minutes, the result is a massive, belligerent, and deliberate aural attack that finds the band at their peak of their notoriously hyper-kinetic, meticulously executed brutality.

Preparation for “A Skeletal Domain” did not vary significantly from previous efforts. “At the end of the day, we’re still making a death metal record, no matter where it’s being recorded,” relays Webster. Mark Lewis offered a slightly different, modern recording approach, but the band stressed that they could not be more pleased with their previous albums with Rutan, and the door is most definitely open to work with him again in the future. Changing producers is something the band has historically done after every few albums, if only to not get too comfortable. CANNIBAL CORPSE also tried to step outside of their comfort zone when it came to songwriting and their musical performances.

“Consistency is often confused with repetition. We are established with what we do as a band, and we could relax and not push ourselves, but we try to push the envelope. That’s what makes this exciting,” Webster adds. “Anyone who really listens to this album with an open mind will hear that it’s not same-old same-old.” Mark Lewis would concur with Webster’s analysis and even goes a step further by claiming that “there are moments on this record that have never happened in musical history.”

Regarding the musical direction of the new CANNIBAL CORPSE material, Webster told Metal Wani: “I think it’s… a dark-sounding album. Which, you know, it’s a death metal album, so, of course, it should be kind of dark and eerie sounding anyway, but I think this one a little more than normal. That was kind of the direction the songwriting went in. Pat [O’Brien, guitar] actually wrote a lot on this album. This will be the first album where Pat wrote more songs than anyone else. He’s really been super motivated, and he’s been writing some great, great material that we’re all really excited about. And some of it, it’s very evil-sounding stuff. So I think our fans will be very happy. There’s nothing on here that’s even a million miles close to being a sellout, you know what I mean?! It’s definitely full-on evil death metal. I think everyone will enjoy it.”

A Skeletal Domain Out TODAY

Band Announces Special Instagram Contest + SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal Hosts A Week-Long CANNIBAL CORPSE Takeover

Today marks of the official unveiling of CANNIBAL CORPSE‘s anticipated A Skeletal Domain full-length! Out NOW via Metal Blade Records, the thirteenth full-length from the American death metal institution was produced by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, DevilDriver) at Audio Hammer Studios, and delivers twelve ill-omened tracks in forty-four minutes, the result of which is a colossal, confrontational, and meticulously-executed display of unparalleled brutality.

In an 8/10 review, Decibel Magazine gushes, “‘Vector Of Cruelty’ is a masterful combination of coruscating mid-pace burl and quirky thrash, ‘The Murderer’s Pact’ pushes boundaries in the fields of lead work and atonality, while ‘Kill Or Become’ has a sizzling, infectious quality and the potential to be a set closer should they ever quit it with ‘Hammer Smashed Face.’… the point is, there’s material on lucky number thirteen that stands up to the classics.” Ghost Cult commends, “A Skeletal Domain has shown the world that CANNIBAL CORPSE is still on top of their death metal game and just how evil these guys can be,” while The Guardian boasts, “A cleaner, sharper production certainly gives the likes of teeth-shattering opener ‘High Velocity Impact Spatter’ and the scattershot thud of ‘Sadistic Embodiment’ a more pristine air than anything on 2012’s Torture, but it is the subtle flights of perverse structural fancy lurking within the sustained riff tirade of ‘The Murderer’s Pact’ and the gleefully unsavory ‘Asphyxiate To Resuscitate’ that make this one of CANNIBAL CORPSE‘s most absorbing records in years.” In a 4/5 verdict, Sputnik Music notes, “CANNIBAL CORPSE have pushed the technicality of their songs without forgetting the brutality or speed that fans have come to expect. They’ve also added a thrash element that periodically rears its head before being murdered by another blast beat and atonal guitar solo. Together these elements have created a CANNIBAL CORPSE album that is darker and more chaotic than normal…with A Skeletal Domain there is even more of a reason for people to give CANNIBAL CORPSE a listen,” while MetalSucks adds succinctly, “[CANNIBAL CORPSE] fucking rule their fucking roost with talons of fucking steel.”

To celebrate A Skeletal Domain‘s release, the band is offering listeners a chance to win a mega CANNIBAL CORPSE prize pack though mid-October. Cannibal Corpse “Bible of Butchery” Official Autobiography Release

cc-book-alex

– August 25th, 2014 –

In addition to releasing their thirteenth full-length album, “A Skeletal Domain,” the death metal icons will also be releasing their official autobiography on September 16th. “Bible of Butchery: The Official Biography” was written by Joel McIver, the author of Justice For All: The Truth About Metallica and biographies on Black Sabbath, Slayer, Slipknot, and Queens Of The Stone Age. The book spans 150 pages, includes a forward written by drum legend Gene Hoglan, and is loaded with photos from throughout the Cannibal Corpse and Metal Blade Records archives. The book is available now for $19.99 plus shipping at indiemerch.com/metalbladerecords.

Excerpts from “Bible of Butchery: The Official Biography”:

“Together with the band name that I came up with, and all the crazy cannibal films that we liked, we thought that should be the focus. Cannibal Corpse was a reanimated body which consumes other humans: the theme of the band was spelled out for us right there.” – Alex Webster

“I’ve always been a smartass on stage. A lot of people who came to see me in Corpsegrinder were my friends, and they would be constantly breaking my balls when I was on stage, so I used to have to give shit back to them, which in hindsight probably helped with what I do now.” – George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher

“When Rob Barrett quit Cannibal Corpse in 1997, the slot came up for a guitarist. I went down there and learned the songs and played them with the band, but it was funny: they didn’t tell me if I’d got the gig or not. I kept learning the songs and playing them with them, but they wouldn’t tell me for the longest time if I was in or not! They were like “We’re not sure” and then finally I said, “Have I got the gig or not?” and they told me I had.” – Pat O’Brien

“I wanted to know how music was made: I’d be glued to the guitar players and watch how they played. Then a friend of my brother sold me his guitar, a Gibson L6S which I bought for $12. I used to pretend I was playing it. Even when I was a little kid I used to play air guitar on tennis rackets. Then I tried a guitar that belonged to a friend of mine in a band, and played along note for note with the song they were playing. The guys in the band freaked out and told me I had to get a guitar. Then in 1985 I begged my mom for a guitar—”Please mom, I’ll never ask you for anything again!”—and I got a Cort Flying V and a practice amp.” – Rob Barrett

“Cleverly disguised as an act of random violence, ‘I Will Kill You’ is really an ode to seduction and sweet, mutually-agreed-upon consummation. From flirting, to foreplay, to intercourse, to post-coitus bliss, the chorus of ‘I Will Kill You’ lays it all out in a tender, logical progression. “I will kill you (Hey good-looking, let’s stop screwing around here, leave the bar, and get back to my hotel room for some hanky-panky), I must kill you (Damn, you’re driving me crazy with desire! You look so good nekkid!), you are dead (Yeah, you like that don’t ya? My God, you’re beautiful), I have killed you (Whew! That was great! Pass me the cigarettes. What’s that? You can’t move? Yeeeeeeeah, I rocked your world for sure!).” This is some next-level Casanova-type shit. Some may balk at Cannibal Corpse’s seemingly “violent” lyrics, but underneath the brutal image, these are sensitive, romantic gentlemen: the Don Juans of death metal.” – Randy Blythe, Lamb of God

Author Joel McIver adds: “I had a blast writing this book, from the first notes made in spring 2012 to the final edits in summer 2014. Most of my interviews with Cannibal were executed over a few days which I spent on their tourbus as it traveled through the UK, in which time I got to know the musicians in a way that only being confined to a coffin-like metal tube can allow. While Cannibal Corpse’s public image is uncompromising to say the least, in private these are relaxed, lucid, even cerebral people. Alex Webster is Cannibal’s primary spokesman, a man who thinks before he speaks and who faces any criticism with disarming mellowness. Paul Mazurkiewicz, the other remaining founder member, is equally pleasant company, more excitable than Alex and as hyped-up as any extreme metal drummer needs to be. Guitarists Pat O’Brien and Rob Barrett are the quiet ones, the former a man permanently in search of a party and the latter more content with his own company and a good book. Perhaps Cannibal’s biggest enigma is frontman George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fisher, a mighty force on stage and a contemplative man off it: I recall on more than one occasion coming into the tourbus lounge at the dead of night, confronted by pitch darkness broken only a pool of light surrounding George’s face, deep in thought while studying his phone, beer close at hand. These individual dynamics make Cannibal Corpse more than just the sum of its parts, and this is reflected in the book we’ve written together.“

“A Skeletal Domain” will be released in North America on September 16th, 2014 via Metal Blade records. Point your browser to metalblade.com/cannibalcorpse where you’ll witness the sonic trauma that embodies second track, “Sadistic Embodiment” as well as a host of preorder bundles.

CANNIBAL CORPSE: American Death Metal Icons To Release A Skeletal Domain

CannibalCorpse-ASkeletalDomain
– July 1st, 2014 –

New Song And Pre-order Packages Now Available + Band To Kick Off Summer Tour As Part Of The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival

American Death Metal Icons, CANNIBAL CORPSE, are pleased to announce the release of their thirteenth full-length, entitled, A Skeletal Domain.

Lucky number thirteen? Lucky or not, it’s a quantity of releases (not even counting VHS/DVD releases and EPs) and a wealth of material beyond which most bands could even fathom. The CANNIBAL CORPSE collective – vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, bassist Alex Webster, guitarists Pat O’Brien and Rob Barrett and drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz — approaches each recording session with a honed and precise vision of a band in their third decade of existence. With this new entry to their extensive catalog, they’ve switched gears, opting to work with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, DevilDriver) at Audio Hammer Studios, after having tracked their previous three outings (Kill, Evisceration Plague, Torture) with Erik Rutan. Boasting twelve-ominous tracks in forty-four spine-fraying minutes, the result is a massive, belligerent, and deliberate aural attack that finds the band at their peak of their notoriously hyper kinetic, meticulously executed brutality.

Preparation for A Skeletal Domain did not vary significantly from previous efforts. “At the end of the day, we’re still making a death metal record, no matter where it’s being recorded,” relays bassist Alex Webster. That’s what makes this exciting,” adds Webster. “Anyone who really listens to this album with an open mind will hear that it’s not same-old same-old.” Mark Lewis would concur with Webster’s analysis and even goes a step further by claiming that “there are moments on this record that have never happened in musical history.” CANNIBAL CORPSE have proven time and again that they have more fuel in their tank, more riffs in their minds, and more ways to describe gore than any single group of human beings could ever have hoped. The thirteenth album will prove to be as important a landmark in their career as just about any other. CANNIBAL CORPSE are consistency defined.

A Skeletal Domain will be released in North America on September 16th, 2014 via Metal Blade records. Point your browser to THIS LOCATION where you’ll witness the sonic trauma that embodies second track, “Sadistic Embodiment” as well as a host of preorder bundles.

CANNIBAL CORPSE announces 25th anniversary shows in Florida!

– September 18th, 2013 –

Cannibal Corpse will be wrapping up their 25th anniversary celebrations for 2013 with a pair of shows in Florida, which has served as the band’s base of operations since relocating to Tampa from Buffalo, NY in 1994. The shows are scheduled for November 29th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the Culture Room and November 30th in Tampa, FL at the Brass Mug. Tickets will be on sale this Friday at ticketmaster.com for the Culture Room and TBA for the Brass Mug.
Founding member and bassist Alex Webster comments: “We are very excited to be doing these shows in Florida this November. We formed the band in the first week of December back in 1988 so these shows will be happening almost exactly 25 years after our formation. It will be great to celebrate our band’s anniversary in the state that helped put death metal on the map. Also, we are very happy to be able play Ft. Lauderdale to make up for the show we missed there in June. And I think fans in both cities will be happy when they see the ticket price for these shows!”

About

Cannibal Corpse is an American death metal band from Buffalo, New York. Formed in 1988, the band has released twelve studio albums, one box set, and one live album. Throughout the years the band has been established, they have had little radio or television exposure, although a cult following began to build behind the group with the release of albums such as 1991's Butchered at Birth and 1992's Tomb of the Mutilated which both reached over one million in worldwide sales by 2003,[1] including 558,929 in the United States, making them the top-selling death metal band of all time in the US.[2]

The members of Cannibal Corpse were originally inspired by thrash metal bands like Kreator, and Slayer, as well as other death metal bands such as Morbid Angel, Autopsy and Death.[3] The band's album art (most often done by Vincent Locke) and its lyrics, which draw heavily on horror fiction and horror films, are highly controversial. At different times, several countries have banned Cannibal Corpse from performing within their borders, or have banned the sale and display of original Cannibal Corpse album covers.
