Goatwhore Destroys Lion’s Lair; Sold out show in Denver Colorado 9/28/16

Photos and article by Amy Hutcheson

Goatwhore performed a sold out show at Lion’s Lair in Denver, Colorado last night. The venue listed as a “dive bar” was crowded wall-to-wall with fans eager to bang their heads with the iconic extreme metal act fresh off the Ozzfest-meets-Knotfest stage. “We love these small venues,” states Rob "Trans Am" Coleman (Goatwhore’s touring bass player since 2014). “The big festivals are great, but the hardcore fans will come out to shows like this.”

It’s easy to see why hardcore fans of the band would prefer a small dive bar to a huge festival. With the band performing on a smaller stage they are literally staring you right in the face while performing their set, and are more accessible for photos and questions from fans both before and after the performance. Front man Ben Falgoust sharing beers and lyrics with the crowd was a highlight of the evening.

Fans went crazy in the micro-mosh pit that engulfed the floor area in front of the Lion’s Lair stage. Falgoust air-guitar’ed along with Sammy Duet’s amazing guitar playing, while Zack Simmons and Coleman blazed through the band's set list like the seasoned musicians that they are. The band performed a flawless set for the dozens of energetic fans and friends crammed in front of the tiny Lion’s Lair stage.

Locals Necropanther opened the show with an energetic and surprising blackened thrash metal sound that got the crowed ready for The Blood Royale (Texas), currently on tour with the iconic Goatwhore. Next stop for these two is Albuquerque, NM at the Launchpad and then on to Dallas, TX at Reno’s Chop Shop before Goatwhore parts ways with The Blood Royale and heads to their last performance on the tour, Saturday, October 1st in Lake Charles, LA at the Luna Live.

Goatwhore will then be headed into the recording studio for a short time before returning to the road late 2016, early 2017.  For more information and news stay tuned to www.residentrockstar.com and also follow Resident Rock Star and Goatwhore on all the major social networking sites.
