The eponymous debut full-length from Sacramento, California funeral doom duo OROMET will see an official CD and vinyl release today, June 5th, through a joint collaboration between Hypaethral Records and Transylvanian Recordings.

Oromet was initially released on cassette and digital formats in 2023. Comments the band, “We are very proud of this record, but we are still surprised by the reaction that it got. This music is very personal and evokes a lot of powerful emotions within us… so it feels good to see that it also has resonated with so many other people.

“Originally OROMET was only going to be a studio project but soon after the album was released we realized that the songs needed to be performed live and at high volume. We’re excited to get a full release of the album. Having the record presented on vinyl and CD now finally makes it feel ‘complete.’ People have been asking for this ever since the tape first came out and I think that they will be very pleased when they finally have it in their hands. The Ted Nasmith painting that we used for the cover art is exceptionally beautiful and deserves to be seen at the full, 12” LP size. “

Oromet was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Patrick Hills at Earthtone Recording Company in Sacramento and features design and layout by Dan Aguilar. The record is now available on CD (Ltd. 300) and limited edition vinyl in the following color variants:

Sunset (250)
Twilight (250)

OROMET was forged in 2022 by guitarist/vocalist Dan Aguilar and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Hills with the aim of creating powerful music where melody is the focal point, rather than an afterthought. OROMET sculpts towering, monumental funeral doom epics. Transcendent guitar harmonies soar over immense, swirling soundscapes while agonizing vocals howl from cavernous depths. Their self-titled debut captured that vision: an epic exploration of grandeur intertwining a profound sense of beauty with crushing heaviness.

OROMET stands at the intersection of sorrow and transcendence. Where some seek to immiserate and drown the listener, Oromet explores the complete nature of sorrow as the band weaves the choke of despair and the lightness of serenity. At times the music flows like a winding stream, and at others it towers overhead like a frigid peak, piercing the clouds.

Visually, OROMET draws from the paintings of fantasy artist Ted Nasmith, whose work adorns both albums and resonates with the band’s philosophy and lyrical themes. The debut’s cover art reflects their upward gaze.

“This is a creation that is all but bound to become a sleeper hit throughout the expanse of the underground.” – Head Banger Reviews

“This two-man project of Patrick Hills and Dan Aguilar is an exercise in judiciously balanced light and shadow, weight and buoyancy. There’s as much empty space on this record as there is tectonic heft, with overt beauty and ragged desperation embraced in equal measure.” – Angry Metal Guy

“Oromet is a wonderful piece of funeral doom. The composition, musicianship, songwriting, concepts, and execution excel with flying colors. While there is a familiarity with greats in the genre, OROMET is painting their own work on the inside of the coffin lid.” – Last Rites

OROMET:
Dan Aguilar – guitar, vocals
Patrick Hills – drums, bass, synth, backing vocal
