THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL: Special Two-Day Festival To Take Place This November Featuring...

Behold! THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL is upon us. Presented by Housecore Horror, Housecore Records, and Live Nation, the special two-day festival, set to take place on November 20th and 21st at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana, will feature a landmark performance by PANTERA, marking their first show in New Orleans in 30 years, and serve as a nod to the 30th anniversary of PANTERA’s The Great Southern Trendkill full-length, originally released in 1996.

The weekend will also host DOWN’s official Volume V record release show and include additional performances by Black Label Society, Corrosion Of Conformity, Power Trip, Crowbar, Eyehategod, Pig Destroyer, Rāde, and Herakleion! This is not just a lineup; it’s a takeover! Individual day lineups will be revealed at a later date.

As an added bonus, THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL will celebrate the return of the Housecore Horror Festival! Over a decade since its inception, PANTERA/DOWN vocalist Philip H. Anselmo, the undisputed icon of the heavy metal world, is returning to New Orleans with the ultimate weekend of movies and mayhem. Through his Housecore Records label, Anselmo has championed numerous rising artists. By way of Housecore Horror, he’s shared his passion for dark, cinematic excess. THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL will include a terrifying takeover of screenings and screams. Guests, gigs, and guts will all be on offer as the festival utilizes venues across the city, showcasing vendors, special appearances, and plenty of horror movies. [Not included in the all-in ticket price for the arena shows; further details to be unveiled in the weeks to come.]

Comments Anselmo, “To be back in New Orleans with such a package of bands and events is a dream come true. Besides PANTERA and DOWN, we have great NOLA and national bands playing, Housecore Records and Housecore Horror specialties, horror industry personalities, talented artists, and so much more. Please come down to my hometown and have a blast the entire weekend!”

About PANTERA:

PANTERA persists and perseveres as one of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time. Selling tens of millions of records worldwide, earning four GRAMMY® Award nominations, and generating tens of billions of streams, the iconic lineup — Philip H. Anselmo (vocals), Dimebag Darrell (guitar), Rex Brown (bass), and Vinnie Paul (drums) — pioneered a groove-driven sound unlike anything that came before or after. Grinding on the local Texas circuit, the group broke through on their own terms with the multiplatinum Cowboys From Hell in 1990. Two years later, Vulgar Display Of Power changed metal and hard rock forever. It went multiplatinum, spawned generational classics such as “Walk” and “This Love,” and eventually claimed a spot in the Top 10 of Rolling Stone’s “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of All Time.” 1994’s Platinum-certified Far Beyond Driven bowed at #1 on the Billboard 200 and is renowned to this day as “the heaviest album to ever claim the chart’s top spot.” Getting more extreme once again, The Great Southern Trendkill reached Gold status in 1996 and would retrospectively be hailed by Pitchfork as “about as thrilling as they come.” The group notched their third consecutive Top 5 debut on the Billboard 200 with the Gold-certified Reinventing The Steel during 2000. A period of dormancy followed, and the world tragically lost Dimebag and Vinnie. Over the years, the quartet’s music surged through culture, appearing everywhere from The Crow and Donnie Darko to Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Academy® Award winner, The Big Short.

In 2022, PANTERA stirred to life again with Philip and Rex alongside longtime friends and brothers-in-arms, Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde on guitar and Anthrax’s Charlie Benante on drums. In triumphant fashion, the band headlined Download Festival, Sonic Temple, Aftershock, and Welcome To Rockville and even sold out venues like Madison Square Garden. They also accompanied Metallica on the M72 World Tour for just shy of three years. PANTERA capped off 2025 with The Heaviest Tour of the Summer, celebrating their legacy and captivating a new generation of fans that’s forever stronger than all.

About DOWN:

DOWN was never just a band. It’s a brotherhood rooted in childhood friendships that have endured for decades. It’s an homage to the city of New Orleans. It’s the sound of five heavy metal lifers jamming together in a room without rules. It’s music meant for anybody who has ever headbanged, played air guitar, or worn a weathered tour t-shirt like armor. For over three decades, the quintet — Philip H. Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Kirk Windstein, Jimmy Bower, and Pat Bruders — have quietly built a legacy like no other. When these individuals congregate, it’s out of pure love for music and one another. As soon as they get together, magic ensues, conjured by earthquaking grooves, bellowing straight from the soul, and riffing loud enough to awaken an ancient deity. The guys initially crossed paths as teens in various local bands throughout New Orleans before going off and making names for themselves with Philip in Pantera, Pepper in Corrosion Of Conformity, Kirk in Crowbar, and Jimmy in Eyehategod.

In 1991, their first impromptu jam session yielded a now-legendary demo that made its way around the world. The three-song tape effectively laid the foundation for 1995’s Platinum-certified NOLA. Metal Hammer cited the latter as “a rock classic, period.” The band delivered Down II: A Bustle In Your Hedgerow (2002), Down III: Over The Under (2007), Down IV – Part One (2012), and Down IV – Part Two (2014). Beyond packing houses on global headline jaunts, the group shared the stage with the likes of Metallica, Heaven & Hell, Danzig, and Melvins in addition to igniting festivals such as Aftershock, Louder Than Life, Hellfest, and Sick New World. It’s no wonder Revolver christened the collective one of the “12 Greatest Supergroups In Hard Rock And Heavy Metal History.” However, DOWN begins another chapter in 2026 with Volume V. Produced by Eddie Mapp and DOWN, mixed by Dave Fortman, and mastered by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering in California, their long-awaited new studio album will see release on November 20th via Nuclear Blast Records.
