By: Ashley Parrish Otteman

Denver, CO – Merging the aesthetics of metal, goth, and horror, the newly released “24 HORROR PINUPS” is a must-have for fans of the macabre. Curated by Amy Ashe, founder of Metal Maidens and Resident Rock Star, and Daniel Crosier of the Colorado Festival of Horror (COFOH), this one-of-a-kind collection of illustrated pinups showcases the diverse talents of visual artists from the realms of tattooing, comic books, fantasy, and more.

With a rich history spanning two decades in the Northern Colorado alternative and metal scenes, Metal Maidens has now joined forces with COFOH to curate this exceptionally rare pin-up collection. Metal Maidens, celebrating its 24th year, has been a cornerstone of the local metal community. Meanwhile, COFOH, now in its fourth year, has swiftly cemented its position in the Colorado horror community. Together, they bring fans and creators together in a shared celebration of the genre. The festival offers a wide range of experiences, from celebrity guest appearances and film screenings to panels and workshops, cosplay and tattoo contests, and an impressive vendor area.

A Unique Collaboration
Inspired by artist Barry McClain Jr.'s vision to capture the energy of horror-themed photoshoots in illustrated form, a collaboration between Amy Ashe, founder of Metal Maidens, and Daniel Crosier of COFOH came to life. Ashe reflects, “We have been doing horror-themed photo shoots for years, and this book is inspired by all the ones we have done over the past 24 years.” Artists from across the nation contributed their unique styles, resulting in a diverse and captivating collection that redefines traditional pinup art.

When asked about some of the major challenges bringing the book to life, Ashe humorously remarked, “Getting the artists to turn in their pictures was tough.” (which, as an artist, ahem, I can confirm).
