“Zealotry” is the latest single from Chicago-based instrumental power trio, COYOTE MAN. Now playing at Decibel Magazine in video form, the track comes off the band’s gargantuan Prosthetic Memories full-length, set to drop on August 14th

Members Augie Portugal, Ian Wheeler, and Rene Rodriguez have been making noise since the early 2000s but officially formed COYOTE MAN in 2015. Together they deliver powerful riffs that are simultaneously haunting and soothing. COYOTE MAN is a reminder that music can still be an art form not easily subjugated to cliches of today’s digital age.

“Zealotry,” the second single from Prosthetic Memories, stands as the heaviest and most uncompromising track on the album. Driven by massive, groove-laden riffs and an infectious energy, the song is built to move crowds while delivering a crushing sonic impact. Its blend of memorable hooks and relentless heaviness makes it one of the band’s most commanding releases to date.

Adding another layer of atmosphere, guitarist and keyboardist, Augie Portugal, incorporates haunting synth textures that bookend the track. The eerie introduction and closing passages evoke a sense of impending collapse, whether interpreted as the dawn of an apocalypse or a descent into chaos. The result is a cinematic and unsettling backdrop that amplifies the song’s central theme.

The band comments, “’Zealotry’ reflects the increasingly polarized world we inhabit, where conviction can harden into fanaticism and individuals become consumed by an endless stream of amplified opinions. Through its powerful instrumentation and dark atmosphere, the track captures the tension, division, and emotional weight of modern discourse.”

Adds Decibel, “COYOTE MAN showcases a broad musical palette on their upcoming second full-length, Prosthetic Memories, but on new single, ‘Zealotry,’ they abandon subtlety for sheer force. This is a four-minute-plus roiling bulldozer of a track that uses melody sparingly and mostly just rides a couple of relentless circular riffs.”

“Zealotry” will be available on all streaming services on Friday, July 24th.

With Prosthetic Memories, COYOTE MAN delivers their most ambitious and compelling work to date – an instrumental album that guides listeners through a cinematic journey of hope, conflict, introspection, and triumph. From moments of beauty and wonder to thunderous clashes with darker forces, the album unfolds like that soundtrack to an epic story, driven by the band’s powerful musicianship and fearless creativity.

The title Prosthetic Memories refers to memories that were never truly lived yet feel deeply personal – borrowed fragments of emotion, history, imagination, and experience grafted onto the self. Existing in the haunting space between remembrance and invention, these “prosthetic memories” reflect the ways we absorb stories, feelings, and perspectives from the world around us. Throughout the album, COYOTE MAN transforms this concept into sound, creating music that feels both familiar and otherworldly, deeply personal yet universally relatable.

Powerful, cinematic, and emotionally charged, Prosthetic Memories stands as COYOTE MAN‘s strongest artistic statement to date. It is an album designed not only to be heard, but experienced-inviting listeners to lose themselves in its textures, themes, and unforgettable sonic landscapes. “Our aim is to make the listener more susceptible to the complexities of their own feelings and breathe new life into the established paradigms of metal music.”

Prosthetic Memories was recorded in the Summer of June and July 2025 at Iron Hand Audio in Chicago, mixed and mastered by Dan Klein, and includes guest vocals by Chris Pacific on “Faith In A Burning Room.”

The record will be released on CD, LP, and digital formats.

Preorders will be available at the COYOTE MAN Bandcamp HERE where first single, “War Hatchet,” can be streamed.
